The European Program SUNRISE (HORIZON-MISS-2023-CANCER-01) is an innovative digital education project focused on the primary prevention of cancer through behavioral change in adolescents — a critical stage during which risky habits often begin. The innovative digital interventions of the SUNRISE project are being developed through co-creation methods, applying proven digital solutions for the prevention of smoking and other risky health behaviors using creative approaches such as social campaigns, advertising literacy education, educational games, and social robot platforms. SUNRISE aims to create a comprehensive, engaging, and sustainable digital health promotion program within the school environment — a program that not only addresses immediate health behavior issues but also cultivates lifelong healthy habits among adolescents.
The project will be implemented in 154 schools and will engage 7,500 students aged 13–19 from eight European countries (Greece, Switzerland, Slovenia, Spain, Cyprus, Italy, Belgium, Romania), including socially vulnerable groups such as migrants and ethnic minorities.
During the meeting with Mrs. Chara Athanasopoulou, Principal of the Junior High School, and Mr. Lambros Tsigaridas, Principal of the Senior High School of the Municipality of Malevizi, the digital tools available for use throughout the program were presented, and ways for student participation were discussed. At the same time, a detailed discussion was held regarding the organization and operation of the program, emphasizing the collaboration and roles of teachers, students, and parents.
